Kia Uses Tecmo Bowl to Promote New Kia Sorento

Monday, September 26th, 2016

For most 30 somethings, Tecmo Bowl and other 8 bit graphics video games were an important part of their childhood. Another vital part of people in this age group’s childhood was professional football. There were no two names bigger in the world of 80’s and 90’s professional football than Bo Jackson and Brian Bosworth. The team at Kia has used both the nostalgia of Tecmo Bowl and the popularity of these two players to promote the new Kia Sorento. This winning combination has sparked the interest of thousands of fans and has drawn a lot of attention to the power of the Kia Sorento.

In the commercial featuring both of these players, Bo Jackson can be seen powering down the field in a Kia Sorento in the Tecmo Bowl World. Once he reaches the ten yard line, a player from the other team jumps in. Not until the scene shifts back to the real world inside of the Sorento can you see that the player who has jumped in is none other than Brian “The Boz” Bosworth.

For years, Kia has been very innovative when it comes to the way they advertise their vehicles. This commercial only serves to reinforce that fact that Kia has their hand on the pulse of pop culture and utilizes the knowledge they have to create some of the most iconic commercials out there. The best part about these commercials is that they showcase some of the new features the Kia Sorento has to offer.

Over 90 Miles with No Carbon Emission

Monday, September 19th, 2016

For eco-friendly consumers it is hard to beat the KIA Soul EV. Don’t look for two black strips of rubber on the road but do look for an all-electric vehicle that can go over ninety miles on a single charge and then be back again in four hours or so.

The range potential of a KIA Soul EV in New Jersey is second to only the model S Tesla which costs a great deal more. The performance is thanks to a high density lithium-ion-polymer battery. The battery, which is air cooled sits comfortably between the front and rear seats and to accommodate it the floor is only marginally higher than any other car but, even at that, the cargo space is not affected at all.

There is no need to rush:

An electric vehicle is very different than anything else you have ever driven; the KIA Soul EV gives maximum torque from the first revolution of the motor followed by smooth, linear acceleration. It does all this with no noise other than a steady hum of the motor, tires rolling on the road and the slightest wind rush noise. The ride is very smooth, the added weight of the battery tends to dampen motion; this is especially noticeable when cornering where there is absolute minimum body roll.

Although the maximum travel distance on a charge is nothing like the distance you get out of a tank of gas, the vehicle is not intended for long runs. If you do happen to run low on power while you are out, the KIA Soul EV has a built in charger; the car can be fully charged in about four hours using a 240 volt power supply or, when you are in a pinch, you can bring it up to 80 percent charge at any fast charge station.

Bo and The Boz Face Off Once Again as Kia’s Largest and Most Capable Utility Vehicle Uses Power and Agility to Safely Zig and Zag Up and Down the Field

  • “MVP of SUV’s” campaign includes the 30-second “Tecmo Bros” as well as 30- and 60-second “Tecmo Bo” spots available now at; 30-second ads will make their broadcast debuts this month on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football”
  • Ads take football fans – and the advanced crash avoidance and infotainment technologies of Kia’s best-selling SUV – inside one of the most influential video games of all time

IRVINE, Calif., September 8, 2016 – Football is back! And nearly 30 years after crossing paths in Seattle, football legends Bo Jackson and Brian Bosworth find themselves once again on a collision course – but this time with a very different result – in a new advertising campaign debuting online today for Kia Motors’ award-winning Sorento. When the “MVP of SUV’s” effort makes its broadcast debut this Sunday, it will mark Kia’s third consecutive season with NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” and offer a new twist on Tecmo Bowl, still considered one of the best sports video games ever nearly three decades after its release.

Blending live action footage with Tecmo Bowl’s signature 8-bit graphics and sound effects, the two spots – “Tecmo Bros” and “Tecmo Bo” – place the Sorento in the center of the action; and with unstoppable running back Bo Jackson behind the wheel, the advanced technology and driver assistance features of the “MVP of SUVs” allows him to dominate once more, with only Brian Bosworth standing between him and the goal line in “Tecmo Bros.”

“At Kia, we are always looking to stand out, and using the Sorento to take football fans inside a beloved video game and bring two legendary players roaring back in all their 8-bit glory was an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, Kia Motors America (KMA). “Sunday Night Football has been the top-rated primetime show for five straight years, and after our football-themed advertising helped push Sorento sales up more than 13 percent in 2015, returning this year was a no-brainer.”

Created by David&Goliath, KMA’s advertising agency of record, the “MVP of SUV’s” campaign showcases the 2017 Sorento’s extensive list of standard and available driver assistance and infotainment features, including: Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking1; an intelligent and fully active all-wheel drive system; and the latest generation of Kia’s voice-activated UVO infotainment and telematics system featuring Android AutoTM2 and Apple®3 CarPlay which can be paired with a 630-watt, 12-speaker Infinity®4premium audio system that uses Clari-FiTM4 technology to rebuild audio details lost in digitally compressed music.

“Football fans remember these legendary players, and paired with the ever-lasting popularity of Tecmo Bowl, we believed these were the perfect channels to communicate the power, intelligence and nimble handling of the Sorento,” said Colin Jeffery, chief creative officer, David&Goliath. “The play on technology in terms of blending the old video game graphics with the new advancements in the Sorento illustrates just how far Kia has come and how advanced this SUV truly is.”

The New KIA Cadenza, Designed and Refined

Friday, September 16th, 2016

The KIA Cadenza is just one more example of the company’s continuing to train the spotlight on larger and more luxurious offerings. A KIA Cadenza in NJ has carved out an enviable niche in a highly competitive class of automobiles.

Even if you go no further than the base model you will be impressed with the features; leather seats, high end materials throughout and an infotainment system second to none. On long drives there is plenty of cabin space to stretch out and enough power from the V6 engine to ensure there is plenty left when you need to pass. In town, despite the cars size, it maneuvers great.

As is true with all KIA automobiles, the Cadenza is priced right and has an industry leading warranty.

Behind the grill of this California designed vehicle lays an all new 3.3 L V6. This new engine retains the prior power but gives better fuel economy. To better economy again, the car benefits from another new major component, an eight speed automatic transmission. Although the engine will not win any trophies at the drag strip it has good acceleration, more than enough to get you past slower cars or merge gracefully into traffic off a freeway ramp.

From behind the wheel, a driver will instantly feel how confident the car performs. For a large sedan the car stays firm on the road and takes corners with ease.

From the inside:

A KIA Cadenza in NJ is a big car, those who want a big car also want big space; the Cadenza certainly will not let anyone down in this department. The interior is absolutely spacious, more than enough room for five adults.

Leather seats are standard on the Cadenza, the seats are also heated. When you move up in trim the Credenza has ventilated front seats as well as heated back seats and wood accent pieces that evoke comparison to cars costing a great deal more.
